So, it appears there has never been an Adelaide Starlet meet/cruise.
About time we had one isnt it?

Suggestions?

If people would like a nice spirited run through the hills, im the master at coming up with routes for that wink.gif

we meet most saturdays...we just dont tell the world...

we're not interested in just cruisin` around really...
we actually get things done , from full fabrication work of manifolds, intercooler piping etc, to general maintenence etc etc
even hit 18 holes on the golf course.....

doing an engine freshen' up this weekend , rings and seals etc......something to do smile.gif

So you work on the cars, but dont take them out for a fun drive?
Prefer to play golf instead?

What odd people you are... wink.gif

thats not what i said..
we take them on fun drives , don't worry about that.
just not interested in all the other "unknown's" that tag along , driving like idiots to show off and creating the wrong attention...

golf is something different to constantly tinkering with cars...
we've just finished fabricating 3 TD04L conversions....i think a little time away from cars is a good thing now and again...

Now now Brad....calm down. I'm sure MWP doesn't know how much time you spend living & breathing cars.

I was actually thinking this might be an ok idea. I'm not after a hills 'run' in the typical sense with heaps of cars, but wouldn't mind a catch up......say drive to Hahndorf, do lunch etc. Did that ages ago with the ozHonda guys and that was pretty fun.

MWP: Come up with some good ideas mate, and post them up. As Brad said few of us (Brad, myself, maybe Scragley, and long outside chance BSRacer) will be busy doing my rebuild, so don't make it this weekend. Given that there's not a whole lot of SA members, maybe a small group tag along to another event could work also.

Check out toymods/twincam etc for toyota events.

Brendon.

Yeah I'm down with that, good idea.

However, MWP, I agree, a hills run would be pretty cool..

a meet up would be good...to see other cars and have a chat..
something like the harndorf idea is good...
what i was getting at with the cruise , they are good , but it sux when you get a pile of other vehicles and people that have no interest in starlets , just coming along because there is a "cruise" on...thats when bad incidents can happen..

next few weekends are busy for us at the moment , got a couple of starlet motors to rebuild, and a 350 chev to do for my brother.

I like the idea of a cruise, but as everyone else has said people need to behave, i've been on some wrx cruises and they all drive like idiots. It'd be nice to see what a few other people are doing with their cars. Mine's cactus atm anyway so no cruises for me anyway. In future I'll be around a bit more, no more working saturdays! WooHoo!

I wouldnt have set a date for a few weeks anyway, let people find some space on thier calendars.
At the moment im looking at the 19th or 20th.

Im also in the SA Classic Celica Club and go on monthy cruises with them (in my Starlet since my RA28 Celica is a long-term project).
Ive run many a cruise for them before.

My cruises tend to be mostly up in the hills with the occasional stop for a chat and lunch/dinner at a pub.
I have been known to drive a little quickly in the hills, but nothing too insane.

You guys still interested if i set a date and route?
Does a morning/afternoon/night on fri/sat/sun suit you guys best?

As for other people joining in... yes, only guys with an interest in Starlets should be invited.
I wont announce this cruise anywhere else other than in here to keep numbers down.
I have personally seen the results when big cruises are organised (toyota-nissan-subaru combined cruise, ~80cars, 2 were written off).

Morning or aftenoon on a Saturday/Sunday would be fine.

I avoid driving my car Friday/Saturday nights, as do a few of us.

i agree with scragley,

nights + adelaide hills + other knobs on the road = potential hazard

but yeah i like the sound of an afternoon. preferably saturday.

Well the plan was for it to be this weekend, but thats obviously fallen through... partly due to me buying a 1UZ engine (Toyota 4L V8) in the morning.

Next possible date is the 2nd of Aug.

had nothing to do with your engine purchase..why would you think it would ?

we did meet...
in my shed all day , building a motor and fitting it to BSRacer's EP82.

good to see Benign&ahalf putting effort into driving all the way from the barossa (again) ,to meet up and learn a thing or two...good on ya' mate..
was an interesting day , but finally finished....well done boys.

Because i was organising it...
Its great you guys got BSRacer's Starlet going... but i dont see you inviting the rest of us, so its hardly a forum social meet/event which is what this thread is about organising.
