LETS MAKE A STARBOQ

Date - 15,16,17 - Basically all weekend as I know some people work Saturdays, Sundays. If a few of you want to come around Friday night, or Saturday/Saturday night just let me know. Ideally try come at similar times
Time - 6pm Friday Night, Saturday During the Day and Night and Sunday Day if you're keen
Location - Bundamba QLD - I'll pm those of you who don't know the address
Costs - BYO Beer & Sexual Favours.
Contact- PM me or just post here.

Ok after thinking about this idea for AGES -

I finally have a Shell that would be idea for this as it's a fairly rusty bucket of poo.
And what better way then getting Au starlet members to do all the work for you with you tongue.gif
But really it will just be a kind of meet and greet,

I'll have a look for more details about how to make this however It seems pretty straight forward

What do we need:
- A BBQ (I'll sort this out) as well as the half cut and panels
- Painting things like sand paper, rust removal, wax and grease remover ( anyone work at supercheap ? )
- I think I still have some WRX Blue paint left over.
- Box Steel
- 2 kick arse looking wheels that we can paint in white.
- Tow hook and Shackle
- Welder
- Anything else you can think of let me know !

Who we Need:
- Someone who knows how to weld
- Someone who knows how to paint ( I'm pretty bad at both )
- People who want to learn more about their engine ! ( You will be the ones pulling things apart )
- A Class Clown Acquired
- A black guy

The plan is to have this ready for the cruise in June and it will be the Starlet clubs Mascot BBQ which we can take to EVENTS
There will also be a few Decent starlets in the garage to have squiz at, hopefully have some Carbon Fibre parts to Display.

Whos Going:
Fearlesss - Josh (I'm going to start learning peoples names more)
Rookie - Dave - (Which day ?)
AllBlaqk - Tiff - TBA
Luke Van - Luke - (Which day ?)
Scottay_22 - Scott - Saturday

I'm in. Lol, this should be good.

What the idea behind the bbq? Is it meant to be towed like a trailer? If so, I can rig up the indicators, and headlights as brake lights.

Put me down - allblaqk / Tiff

Lol, don't feel pressured to do anything you don't want. Hell people can just come and hang out for the day if they want.
I just youtubed Turret Punching Machines ! Man they are AWESOME !! What's the maximum thickness can your Punch can do ?

I'm getting a feeling Saturday is going to be the main day ? Should we just make it All day Saturday ?

But Josh that looks exactly like your track car just turned into a trailor dry.gif

I think I'll use a rear axle and just bolt it to the front ? This is when the Engineer type people come in and give me ideas !! That's you Roger Cordia laugh.gif

You can finally use the rear axle that you ground the trailing arms off. tongue.gif

Kind of ironic taking it to shows though? We love these cars..... so we cut one in half to make a bbq?

I think most trailor axles will be too wide. Maybe solid mount a gt rear axle? It wil be light enough that it wont require brakes. Not sure if suspension is required huh.gif

turret max thickness is 3mm

any thicker just send it to the laser cutter or water jet
laser cuts 20mm+

has anyone got a welder?

Sweet, I was just thinking about these willwood brakes and making the bracket to mount them as the brakes should be arriving any day now.

I've got a small Tig welder.

After discussions last night, I think we going to start with a box trailer, cut off the box and mount a half cut to the chassis so there really shouldn't be a whole lot of welding needed.
Plus it will all be on the inside so doesn't have to be perfect.

I'll pick up a donor trailer over the next 3 weeks smile.gif

Yes sad.gif BUT it still works I tried it a few months ago.

After doing a bit of research it looks like for Trailers under 750ksgs and single axle in QLD don't even need a RWC ! Or anything. You just make your own chassis and placement card then head to Transport Dept laugh.gif
However It will probably easier to still start off with a Box Trailer ( I'm eyeing one off on eBay at the moment)
http://www.ebay.com....984.m1438.l2648
It was the only one under $400 that wasn't rusted to pieces.

Here's some even more interesting news, In VIC you don't even have to register the above spec trailers !!

Lol, no No engineering. You don't even need to road worthy let alone engineer trailers under 750kgs and single axle. Stop worrying.
No worries, I honestly think the welding might be a few days work off.

I just got out bided on a trailer on eBay sad.gif Next time Gadget Next time.
