Picked up my new car today. So much fun to drive especially in the wet.
Its a 1990 Mazda MX5 NA6C 5spd manual.

Only done 163,000k's and i got it for $2700 :D

Needs a little bit of work done to it, mainly the roof needs replacing (came with a brand new one, just needs to be installed) and the clutch will need changing at
some point, accidentally went from 2nd to 5th and the revs didnt drop :(

Plans will be to lower it and chuck on my OG oldskool wheels and just drive it as its rather fun to drive as it is.

It is nice to drive something other than starlets for once. Definitely is a cool experience driving rwd with just enough power to have some fun with.

Will hopefully be attending a skid pan day later this month so i can learn how to handle it while sideways

Got some 205/50-15's put on 2 of my 15x8's the other day, will have to do a test fit some time next week then get some tyres for the other 2 on payday. Also need to get some wheel nuts, i'm thinking anodized red.

Plans after that will probably be a paddle clutch then lower it

This cars becoming expensive Posted Image

Fitted my other wheels

Went drifting at a local skid pad day

Posted Image

Posted Image

After the drift day i decided that the car was too high and boat like so bought some tein lowering springs.
They only lowered it about 20mm so coilovers are on the to buy list
Also finally removed the sticker number plate.

Posted Image

Found a hardtop locally but didn't have enough for it so my parents shouted me the rest of the money as an early birthday present

Posted Image

Next on the list is a front lip, coilovers and possibly a new diff.

I think i need to find a cheaper hobby

Front lip arrived yesterday, only took 15mins to fit B)

Car looks a bit lower now so ill be happy with it till i can afford some proper coilovers.

Its a R Package front lip, got it for $180 inc shipping from ebay as i couldnt find anything i liked over here.

phwoar! I've only got 8/6 for my Magna!
I'm guessing the amount of travel is a bit different on the MX5 smile.gif
Have fun!

Haha yeah it is probably going to be harsh to drive on the road.
Will probably have to retire it to a weekend/track day car and use the starlet as a daily again.

Manga? Is that like a galant/legnum over here? If so those rates must be rather soft for a big car like that

Yeah I'm keeping tabs on what I'm spending on this car.
I lost track of what i'd spent on the starlet and was depressed when I tallied it up the other day.
Think I got to over $17k which could buy a very nice car

Magna is exported as a Diamante - large 4 door sedan & wagon. It was competition with Ford Falcon, Holden Dunnydoors and Toyota Camry.
Mine is an AWD one weighing 1700kg with a sub & some petrol in it - hence my "shock" at you having heavier springs smile.gif
The good news is, if they are too harsh, they should be cheap to replace.

If they are too harsh I have been given a 1 month trial period where I can swap them for some tein coils.
Either that or I could dedicate it to being a weekend car
