Ahh, the memories :)

This was my Applause:

Wow. 130kW at the wheels isn't shabby. Stock is 77kW at the flywheel from memory.

Mine was good for a 16.4 quater mile. Double the power would make that very interesting! How does yours drive?

Welcome by the way.

I always wondered how much input Toyota had with Daihatsu Charade & Applause - I thought there was some cross compatability with the engines, but never found out for sure - do you know if the 4EFTE is at all similar to the Applause engine? At least in mounts etc.

Maybe you'll find out one day soon :)

edit: p.s. the factory engine revved pretty well. http://i18.photobuck.../2005500rpm.jpg

Thanks for the welcome

The motor in these makes good torque and likes to rev. Toyota should have had some input to gearbox design, because the arnt real strong. Ive stripped 3rd gear clean of all its teeth twice now and im over it.

Apparantly late model charades and starlets share the same floor pan ??? and 4eftes go in pretty easy but the have a cable clutch and rod linkage gear selection. so its waay easier to just do a starlet.

Applause engine bay is bigger and would fit also.... dont worry I thought long and hard about doing this conversion.
